We are a 3 generational family, group of 10 and have been all over the world together. Fred and his team were by far the best travel experts we have used.
— Karen Mintzer
Traveling with Exploration Journeys is like traveling with a guardian angel.
— Roxanne Lippel
The local guides were not typical at all; with each one it was like spending a day with a local friend.
— Gary & Nyasia Dewaal
Not one single hiccup during the 23-day journey.
— Barbara and John Arnold
Great guides. Some of whom are now our friends too.
— Edward & Michelle Geil
This was without question the most logistically complicated trip our family has ever taken, and Fred and John made it feel as simple as a weekend at home.
— Charles & Valerie Green
We have traveled on all seven continents and Exploration Journeys provided the best service we have ever experienced.
— Barbara & Timothy Blair
We were 22 people, ranging in ages from 8 to 80, traveling to 4 cities in twelve days. So seamless and easy!
— Susan & Ari Spar
It seemed impossible. Three generations, seven people, 10 days, 4 locations... All worry-free and tailor-made.
— Robert & Laura Shrewsbury
I have to admit when I first read the reviews online I was skeptical… no one can be that good… but they really are.
— Brian & Anya Tomko
Fred and his team are superhuman.
— Sally & Wayne Schmidt
When we had a last-minute flight cancellation, they quickly rebooked us and communicated every step so we never felt lost.
— Charlene & Gary Mcneil
Exploration Journeys gave me the gift of peace of mind, exactly what you need on vacation.
— Bridget & Carl Long

In between sit the highest peak outside Asia (Aconcagua), a glacier four times larger than Manhattan (the Perito Moreno), the panoramic view National Geographic ranks among the ten most beautiful in the world (Cerro Campanario in Bariloche), the planet’s largest continental colonies of Magellanic penguins and elephant seals in Peninsula Valdes, the birthplace of tango (Buenos Aires), and the wine country of Mendoza — home to Malbec, a grape Argentina has made so much its own that it now produces nearly 75% of the world’s supply. Pick a destination below to start exploring — and let’s start designing your trip.
Patagonia is a wild and rugged pristine land filled with breathtaking landscapes and eye-catching wildlife. It covers some 400,000 square miles – roughly one-and-a-half times the size of the UK – and has many worlds to discover.
There are very few other places on Earth where you can feel such great isolation and admire vast awe-inspiring natural highlights, as in the Patagonia region.
Among its most important highlights, there's Los Glaciares National Park in El Calafate, a UNESCO World Heritage site representing the largest ice mantle in the world after Antarctica and Greenland, making it the third-largest freshwater reserve on the planet. This is where you can explore and trek over one of the world's most unique and awe-inspiring glaciers: the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Offering some of the most pristine and scenic landscapes in Patagonia, including the breathtaking view from atop Cerro Campanario (one of the 10 most beautiful panoramic views in the world as rated by National Geographic), Bariloche is a nature lover's paradise. Nestled among deep-blue lakes and set against the backdrop of the snow-capped Andes, Bariloche is the perfect place to enjoy some memorable outdoor experiences.
Located at the “Ends of the Earth,” Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world and an exciting Patagonian destination for the adventurous traveler. It's the ideal location to nourish your spirit of adventure with canoeing expeditions in the Beagle Channel, trekking through uninhabited islands and pristine landscapes, or enjoying thrilling and scenic off-road experiences.
The Peninsula Valdes region in Patagonia is a true marine wildlife lover's paradise, where you can admire the largest continental colony of Magellanic penguins in the world and the largest territorial colony of elephant seals. It's also one of the only places on Earth where you can discover one of the cutest and most acrobatic dolphin species, the Panda Dolphin.
As one of the largest marine wildlife preserves in the world, Peninsula Valdes was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site for containing “very important and significant natural habitats for the conservation of several threatened species of outstanding universal value.” Among those threatened species is one of the stars of this destination, the Southern Right Whale. The area is also home to colonies of sea lions, killer whales (orcas), and other marine and land species.
The birthplace of Tango and Argentina's vibrant capital, Buenos Aires is as captivating as the dance itself, an irresistible mix of elegance, passion, and culture.
Blending European sophistication with an edgy Latin American spirit, the city enchants with its architectural gems, first-class cuisine, and a rich cultural scene. From world-renowned museums to the finest tango musicians, dancers, and singers performing in its top venues, Buenos Aires offers endless experiences to explore.
The mighty Iguazu Falls are a spectacle unlike any other, with 275 cascading waterfalls creating one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders on Earth. Nearly twice as tall and almost three times as wide as Niagara Falls, their sheer power and beauty are mesmerizing.
Recognized as one of the “New Seven Wonders of Nature” in a global competition with over 100 million voters, they have also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site for their ecological and geological significance.
Crashing through the heart of a tropical rainforest, Iguazu Falls creates a breathtaking natural spectacle, an unmissable destination to visit!
Set at the foothills of the Andes, in the shadow of Mount Aconcagua–the tallest peak outside of Asia–Mendoza is Argentina's wine capital and a paradise for wine lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Home to over a thousand wineries, Mendoza produces more than 70% of Argentina's wine, including world-renowned Malbecs that consistently earn top awards in international competitions. Visitors can enjoy immersive wine tours and cooking classes, savoring first-class Argentine wines in stunning vineyard settings.
Beyond the vineyards, Mendoza offers thrilling outdoor adventures, from rafting and horseback riding to trekking, biking, and rappelling, making it an unforgettable destination for those who love both fine wine and the great outdoors.
El Calafate is the gateway to Argentina's Los Glaciares National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famed for its breathtaking ice landscapes. It is home to the largest ice mantle in the world after Antarctica and Greenland, making it the third-largest freshwater reserve on the planet.
Witness the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the world's most iconic glaciers. Feel the thrill of trekking across its icy surface or sailing past towering blue icebergs on Lake Argentino.
For an even grander perspective, explore the vast Upsala Glacier, South America's largest. This Patagonian wonder is a must-visit for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.
Dubbed the southernmost city in the world and located in Patagonia at the "Ends of the Earth," Ushuaia is an exciting destination for adventurous travelers.
Explore the wild beauty of this remote region with canoeing expeditions through the Beagle Channel, trekking across uninhabited islands and pristine landscapes, or embarking on thrilling off-road adventures that will ignite your spirit of exploration.
Home to some of Patagonia's most breathtaking landscapes, Bariloche is a nature lover's paradise. Its crown jewel? The panoramic view from Cerro Campanario, rated by National Geographic as one of the 10 most beautiful in the world.
Nestled among deep-blue glacial lakes and framed by the majestic, snow-capped Andes, Bariloche offers unforgettable outdoor experiences, from hiking through ancient forests to sailing across pristine waters. For adventure seekers, options abound: rafting, horseback riding, and thrilling mountain explorations.
Its beauty and charm haven't gone unnoticed, Forbes ranked Bariloche the 4th best place to visit in the world in 2020!
Peninsula Valdes is a true marine wildlife lover’s paradise, offering unparalleled opportunities to observe a diverse array of marine species. The region boasts the world’s largest continental colony of Magellanic penguins and the largest territorial colony of elephant seals. It’s also one of the few places on Earth where you can encounter the charming and acrobatic Commerson’s Dolphin, often called the "panda dolphin" due to its distinctive black-and-white color.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Peninsula Valdes is celebrated for its vital natural habitats that support the conservation of several threatened species of outstanding universal value. Among them is one of the true stars of this destination: the Southern Right Whale. Once hunted to the brink of extinction, this rare and gentle giant is now one of the most awe-inspiring marine mammals to encounter.
The area is also home to colonies of sea lions, orcas (killer whales), and numerous other marine and terrestrial species, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. The wildlife you’ll encounter depends on the time of year you visit, as different species migrate through the region during specific seasons.
