"We had a memorable adventure through Argentina with the help of Exploration
Journeys. We live in Northern California and hesitated about having an online
tour company based in Argentina to help us with our vacation. But after several
email exchanges, we found Exploration Journeys to be a trustworthy and bona fide
company.
Fred, the Exploration Journeys rep and host, was always prompt with his
responses to our many inquiries before AND during our trip. Even though he was
not with us in person, he was always available either by phone or via email. We
told him places where we'd like to visit, and he helped arranged for all the
domestic flights within Argentina.
Pickups and transfers to airports are set up,
in addition to printed e-boarding passes. Fred would alert us immediately if
there were any changes or delays with our domestic flights. Not only would he
have a Plan B, but he would also have a Plan C.
The best part was that Fred
possesses a deep knowledge of Argentina and all the tours, so he provided us
with a lot of good insights.
Argentina is a vast country with lots of varied climates and terrains. Unlike
the rest of Latin America, Argentina is very European, with a mix of Italians
and Spanish cultures. We started out in Buenos Aires, then headed to the Andes
Mountains in Mendoza, then flew down to Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia. Buenos
Aires is a cosmopolitan city and is quite safe, compared to most major cities in
the U.S. People are very tolerant of Americans with limited Spanish skills.
Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia are the places that one must go in his/her
lifetime. the experience is indescribable. Mendoza is a must if you like Malbec.
As far as food is concerned, aside from the famous parilla, trying the
alfajores that are made fresh from the bakeries is a must. Once you've tasted
freshly made alfajores, you won't go back to the boxed varieties! And bring home
some Malbec and dulce de leche!"
