Hands-on Survival Techniques, Trekking and Sleepover in the Thick of the Amazon Rainforest (private tour)

  • Learn hands-on jungle survival techniques and enjoy a most adventurous afternoon and sleepover in the thick of the Amazon Rainforest!

Get ready for a most adventurous afternoon and sleepover in the thick of the Amazon rainforest! We’ll spend an entire afternoon in the jungle, hiking and learning a wealth of hands–on jungle survival techniques from a team of former members of the Brazilian Military, specialized in jungle rescue operations. For dinner we’ll make a genuine Amazonian barbecue served with sides and fruits and we’ll sleep on hammocks tied between trees.

We’ll leave our lodge in the afternoon and navigate through the Black River to a spot in the Amazon Rainforest. Our trained professional team leaders will take us on a hiking tour and will introduce us to jungle survival techniques, such as obtaining drinking water, making fire, differentiating edible plant species, setting up traps, building a shelter, and the Amazonian “peconha” technique to gather fruit from high up on trees.

Now it’s dinnertime in the Amazon! We’ll make a chicken and fish barbecue in the jungle, along with manioc flour meal, salt, lime and fruit, and using large Amazonian leaves as our makeshift plates!

As night arrives, we’ll hear from our team leaders about Amazonian legends, jungle knowledge and indigenous customs. Our night’s rest will be on hammocks tied between trees, with canopies to protect ourselves in case of rain. Also, the sleeping area has a private ecological bathroom.

After a night’s rest, we’ll return early in the morning for breakfast at the lodge, having experienced the unique sensation of life in the wild Amazon Rainforest!
Note: this tour can also be done without sleepover, returning to the lodge after dinner.

Since you’ll be doing this tour with your own private guides, you’ll be able to enjoy each attraction at your own pace; making all of the stops you want while enjoying personalized assistance and care from your expert guides.

Important: This is an activity for people of all ages (5 year-olds and up), and it’s designed to be safe and easygoing. There are no difficult hiking paths, and total hiking distance is about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) during the entire tour, and can be adapted to as little as 1200 feet (400 meters) or even less for guests with limited mobility. Nor do any of the activities involve any risks. Mosquitoes are few, because the acidity of the Black River (one of the 2 main tributaries of the Amazon river) makes it impossible for them to breed on the riverbanks.

The tour, in sum, is designed for almost everyone and, although it is adventurous and exciting, it is certainly not challenging.

Note: keep in mind that the Amazon Rainforest has the largest variety of flora in the planet, but animal spotting is definitely not a highlight of Amazon explorations. The tour’s exact itinerary and duration may change subject to weather conditions and decisions of the tour guide to optimize your tour experience.
