Exploring Potrerillos Valley & Mendoza’s Mountains on Horseback

• It’s time to saddle up and explore the rugged paths of Mendoza’s pre-mountain

It’s time to saddle up and discover the serene landscape of Potrerillos valley on horseback, as you explore the rugged paths of Mendoza’s pre-mountain. Riding along at an altitude of up to 6,500 feet (2,000 meters), you’ll witness picturesque panoramic views with the majestic snow-capped Andes as a beautiful backdrop.

Our horseback riding experience begins with a morning hotel pickup, where we’ll depart on an approximately 43 mile (70 kilometers) ride to El Salto. We’ll arrive at our base, where we’ll be met with an expert guide, who will give us a safety talk about the basics of horseback riding. Now it’s time to hit the trails on our horses!

As we ride along, we’ll take in wonderful views of the surrounding mountains, walking trails, and typical mountain flora and fauna. And if we’re lucky, we may even spot condors circling overhead. The condor is the world’s largest flying bird with a wingspan that can reach over 10 feet (3 meters)! We’ll also reach a viewpoint at an altitude of 6,500 feet (2,000 meters), where we’ll see some stunning panoramic views of the mountains and valley below.

Our morning ride will last for approximately 2 hours. We’ll then arrive back at base camp, where we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch of asado (meat barbeque) with beverages and wine. After lunch we’ll head out for another hour and a half of riding, this time along a different route. Our horseback experience will conclude when we return to base camp next to the river where we’ll have about 1 hour and half to relax before our drive back to our hotel, with the images of the beautifully rustic landscapes of Mendoza still fresh in our minds.
