A Wine-Tasting & Cooking Class in Valle de Uco Region’s Andeluna Winery (private tour)

  • Step into the role of chef, as you take in a delightful cooking class and wine-tasting experience

Put on your apron and step into the role of an Argentine chef, as you put your cooking skills to the test, with a regional cuisine cooking class and wine tasting experience. This experience takes place in the restaurant located within the prestigious Andeluna winery, nestled within the Uco Valley region. Not only will you learn how to cook some of the most delicious traditional Argentine dishes, you’ll also have the opportunity to taste their savory ruby local wines. So, fire up the oven and get out your wine glass, as you prepare tasty cuisines and of course sample some wines!

Located at the foothills of the majestic, snow-capped Andes, the Uco Valley produces some of the world’s best high altitude wines. The constant sunshine, wide temperature range, and perfect soil conditions allow for grapes of such quality, that they’ve garnered international distinction and fame. In fact, distinguished winemakers like Catena, Kendal Jackson, Moët Chandon, and Rothschild have all planted vineyards in the Uco Valley. Not only do the grapes flourish in the microclimates of the region, but they also boast the thickest skin of all other grapes grown in Mendoza, granting them a special attribute that makes it possible for them to grow into some of the finest wines. You’ll find many varieties of wine produced in the Uco Valley; chief among them Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, to name a few.

Our tour begins with a hotel pickup which will take us to the Uco Valley region. Our destination will be Andeluna winery, known for its welcoming atmosphere, set against the backdrop of the majestic Andes, as well as its award-winning wines. In fact, Andeluna has garnered local and worldwide recognition, winning a trophy in the Argentine Wine Awards for their Cabernet Franc, in addition to a silver medal in the 2015 San Francisco Wine Competition for their high-altitude Malbec.

Our cooking class starts off with an introductory talk about wine tasting by an oenologist (wine expert), who will guide us through wine tasting and how to understand its many-layered properties. Next, it’s time to get cooking! We’ll be guided by a chef as we learn how to use regional products to prepare tasty local dishes, such as “empanadas mendocinas”; which is a traditional baked mini-meat pie typically filled with beef, onion, paprika, hot pepper powder, oregano, cumin, olives, and hard-boiled eggs. After we’re done cooking, we’ll head out into the dining room to enjoy lunch and house wines.

Our cooking and wine tasting experience comes to an end with a comfortable ride back to our hotel… with the pleasure of having learned some of the secrets of Argentine cuisine and wines.

Note: If Andeluna is not available, we’ll do the cooking class and wine tasting at an alternate first-class winery. The dishes that will be prepared in the cooking class may vary depending on the season.
