This tour consists of two boat
trips (in
catamarans) and one hiking
experiences. The first catamaran
departs from Puerto Paņuelos,
at the deep blue colored waters of Nahuel Huapi Lake (see
picture on the left) .
During
the trip
you will have the opportunity to see friendly seagulls.
After reaching Blest
Port you hop on a tour
bus
which will take you to
a second
port where you will board a boat
to navigate the the Frias Lake.
This tour bus will go through
a Valdivian Jungle (a cold Jungle). The color of the Frias
Lake water is not blue but emerald green (see picture on the
left). You will get very close to the border
between Argentina & Chile,
almost
to where the path of the "Cross of the Andes" tour
to Chile starts.
After
this catamaran trip
you start the hiking to Los Cantaros Falls through a path
inside the Valdivian Jungle.
The high levels of rain of this region makes this a perfect setting for
a Valdivian Jungle, where a
huge variety of
native plants like the gigantic coihue tree, coihue bamboo
canes, ferns, pangues and manius grow.
In the way you
will find a gigantic Cohihue tree (see picture on the left)
of more than 600 years old, which has been standing there
even before Christophorus
Columbus discovered the American Continent. This is one of
the last old gigantic coihues that is still alive; it has
survived through the adverse climatic conditions of this region.
To have an idea of how
big this tree is, imagine it takes twelve people to completely
circle itīs trunk.
You reach Los Cantaros
Falls and enjoy several different viewpoints to this beautiful
attraction. After visiting Los Cantaros Falls, you set off
to Los Cantaros Lake where you sit and relax by the small
pier with direct view to the lake. This is an ideal place
to enjoy nature.
At
late afternoon we return to our hotel.
