Savoring Argentina’s First-class Wines in Mendoza’s Central Region (private tour)

  • Visit 3 prestigious wineries and savor Argentina’s first-class Wines in Mendoza’s Central Region.

In the past 20 years, there has been a revolution in the Argentine wine industry, driven partly by the success of one grape that, in many countries, is used only for mixing – the rich, velvety Malbec. Dense and dark, with a full-bodies richness that few other grapes can mimic, the Argentine Malbec varietal has become all the rage in the United States and is increasing in popularity among other countries as well. 94% of restaurants in the top ten wine markets in the US feature Malbec on their wine lists, according to a 2010 survey on Wine Spectator magazine.

Experience savoring the taste of first-class Argentine wines, as you visit some of the most prestigious wineries of Mendoza. Located at the foothills of the Andes, in the shadow of Mount Aconcagua, the vineyards in Mendoza are planted at some of the highest altitudes in the world, with the average site located 2000 to 3600 feet (600 to 1100 meters) above sea level. This allows winemakers to plant at exactly the right altitude for each grape variety to perfectly ripen. Argentina is the fifth largest wine producer in the world, and with over a thousand active wineries responsible for more than 70% of Argentina’s wine production, Mendoza is considered the heart of the Argentine winemaking industry.

The altitude where the vineyards are cultivated, the thermal range, the lack of precipitation, and the great number of sunny days, together with the quality of the soil, all play a fundamental role in understanding the excellence of Mendoza’s wines. In fact, Mendoza’s wines annually receive numerous prizes and distinction at the most famous international competitions.

Guided by a local oenologist (wine expert), you’ll get to tour the facilities of three wineries while getting a close-up look at the process of wine-making, and of course…taste their wines. At our visit to the third winery, we’ll be treated to a gourmet lunch with a guided wine tasting.

Our wine tasting tour concludes after lunch with a ride back to our hotel, now with a profound knowledge and understanding of what makes Mendoza a truly unique winemaking region in the world.

Since you’ll be doing this tour with your own private vehicle and guide, you’ll be able to enjoy each attraction at your own pace; making all of the stops you want while enjoying personalized assistance and care from your expert guide. You’ll also enjoy more convenient and faster transfers from and to your hotel, as there will be no other travelers to pick up or drop off at other hotels.
